Hi i just been give a ultra 8800 going to run it in sli mode with my other ultra does it matter if its got a differnt cooling fans on my other ultra just got the normal cooing fans but the other ultra has the Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme 8800 ultra|||hi david
no,thats not a problem,as long as there are no performance issues when using different cooling solutions(which there shouldnt be ) .... you will be fine using these two cards
just remember the golden rules when running cards in sli configuration.....(1) they need to be the same gpu ...which you have ✔ ......(2) they can be different core and memory clock speeds ....✔ .....and (3) they cant be different memory sizes.......✔
so with all the boxes ticked you should be fine,however you also need to consider wether you need more power since the 8800ultra consumes around 175watts maximum draw so with 350watts required just for the graphic cards you should be looking at around 700watts to be on the safe side
and finally david what good mates you have....wow i wish my mates gave me 8800ultra,s ....ok they may not be the latest high end hardware but hey...they are still more than capable at running todays games and trust me...in si they will be awesome
