Ddr3 video card on ddr2 mother board?

Will the 9500gt xfx video card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150332) work on my motherboard? the ram on my motherboard is ddr2 and the video card is ddr3. do the ddr's matter?|||GDDR2 = Graphics Double Data Rate, version 2

► good luck!|||Graphics card memory is separate form that of the system memory. It does not need to be the same. the DDR3 ram in the graphics card is just faster.|||DDRs represent the genreation of RAM

The higher DDR3 is a newer standard that is faster than DDR2 and the very slow DDR.

As long as your card slot is rated correctly for your motherboard it should be fine. Since the DDR3 Ram is built into the card, it will only be used be the card to help process your games along with the GPU (Graphics processing unit) which is the CPU of your card.



So to cut to the chase, the DDR3 wouldnt matter, the real issue is if the motherboard will have a slot suiting for the pins and speed rating fo your video card.

What do you have to watch for when returning a XFX card?

I had a XFX video card bought as a gift for me. I registered online after getting it so I would get the lifetime warranty instead of the 1 year warranty. If I had to return it would I have any trouble I got a receipt with another name as the purchaser? Any trouble with reprinting receipts from Newegg.com, as proof of purchase too?|||prob not if you registered as the original owner and Newegg support usually stands by their products so XFX is less likely to renege.|||Shouldn't be a problem. A reprint is fine and it doesn't matter that it was purchased by someone else, all they'll want is a proof of purchase that matches the item that was sold. I would recommend making a couple of copies of your reciept/invoice, you usually need to mail one in to finalize the warranty, and you'll need another if you need to return it. If you ever need an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization), it'll include instructions you'll need to follow, so save the box (for a lifetime?) and put a copy of your reciept/invoice in it, just in case it dies 20 years from now. Who keeps a graphics card for 20 years, much less a lifetime?

How do I install a video card into a Windows XP?

I'm afraid to go any further in installing an XFX video card into my Windows XP, and I need some help. I need a walk through of the whole entire process, and I'm just stumped. Help a girl out?|||make sure its the right speed card you can get x2-x6-x12-16x ect

make sure theres xp drivers on your installation disc you had with your gfx



once thats ok take old one out put new one in make sure its in fully and install install your drivers.





make sure its all ok before putting it in as before you turn the pc off to put your gfx in you need to uninstall your old gfx drivers so you dont get conflicting.|||1) Uninstall your present video card (remove the card if you have one) - Right click on My Computer - choose properties. Click the Hardware tab - click Device Manager. click the plus sign under Display Adapters - right click the display adapter shown and uninstall the drivers.

2) Install the new video card adapter drivers by running the driver CD.

2) Shut down the computer. Take the side off and install the video card into the proper slot.

3) Start back up and let Windows find the drivers and install.

Asus, eVGA or XFX video card?

I want to buy the new 8800GTS, but I don’t know what brand to choose. Asus is my first choice because almost everything in my computer is from Asus. And I wonder can I over-clock an ASUS with standard cooler system to the GPU and memory frequency of an XFX “Superclocked”? And is there a new dx10 card on the horizon from NVIDIA? me a good brand other than xfx which is available in kolkata.|||EVGA, Zotac, Asus and PNY are by far the highest quality manufacturers of video cards. Evga can offer even up to 10 years of warranty, Zotac has limited lifetime warranty, Asus and PNY should both have at least 3 to 5 years.

8800 ultra xfx video card?

Hi i just been give a ultra 8800 going to run it in sli mode with my other ultra does it matter if its got a differnt cooling fans on my other ultra just got the normal cooing fans but the other ultra has the Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme 8800 ultra|||hi david

no,thats not a problem,as long as there are no performance issues when using different cooling solutions(which there shouldnt be ) .... you will be fine using these two cards

just remember the golden rules when running cards in sli configuration.....(1) they need to be the same gpu ...which you have ✔ ......(2) they can be different core and memory clock speeds ....✔ .....and (3) they cant be different memory sizes.......✔

so with all the boxes ticked you should be fine,however you also need to consider wether you need more power since the 8800ultra consumes around 175watts maximum draw so with 350watts required just for the graphic cards you should be looking at around 700watts to be on the safe side

and finally david what good mates you have....wow i wish my mates gave me 8800ultra,s ....ok they may not be the latest high end hardware but hey...they are still more than capable at running todays games and trust me...in si they will be awesome

5870 XFX video card ?

On the xfx website the specs say the Radeon™ HD 5870 1024 MB DDR5 DisplayPort XXX (HD-587A-ZND9) model card has 5200mhz memory clock where can i buy this card..i cant find it anywhere. Why does new egg say it can only do 1300mhz|||The ATI 5800 cards (5850, 5870) are very hard to find right now. They are having problems producing enough chips to meet demand.



Just keep checking everywhere, multiple times per day until you find somewhere that has them in stock, I was lucky to find my at www.aria.co.uk a couple of weeks ago.



I'm not sure why XFX rate it at a 5.2Ghz memory clock. The ATI site rates it at 1.2 GHz. 5.2GHz would be impossible.



It's an excellent card btw :) Don't think twice about getting it if you can find one in stock.|||You may be confusing mhz with Gbps if you notice 5.2Gbps is 5200mbps the one at newegg IS the one you saw in the XFX site..I just checked...nice card!
